Country Dancing Anyone?

Flashback:
It's the year 2008.  I'm a freshman at Brigham Young University.  I have lots of friends.  I am not socially awkward.  My many friends invite me to go country dancing with them. I decline. They continue to invite, I laugh.

Now it's the year 2011.  I have many friends.  I am not very socially awkward.  A few of my friends invite me to go country dancing.  I decline. They persist.  I laugh.

Unflash to the yesterday:
It's 2012.  I am at BYU again.  I have a couple friends.  I suddenly am socially awkward. . . My roomies set up a date. . .We are going country dancing. . . So there i am, on a country dance floor (the building reminded me more of the elementary school gym in Dubois than a country dance floor) wishing that I knew how to country dance.  I said to myself, "self, you had like a million chances to learn how to do this  but you laughed them off.  now your date wants to go home cuz you can't dance and she knows you only went with her cuz your roommate has a crush on her roommate."  (What my date didn't know is that i also have a crush on her roommate.)  bummer.  I'm thinking this is probably the worst date i've been on since i got home. or before too.

The good news:
She'd been on a string of unfortunate dates as of late so in comparison, this one was a delight!

The bad news:
That's probably not true, but it wasn't as bad as the other ones she'd been on (seeing as I didn't try to kiss her 20 times throughout the night)
Turns out her roommate who me and my roommate both are crushing on, is crushing on someone else, according to my date who may be stuck in the friends cycle with my roommate and lying so that he will notice her after 5 years of being friends. . .poor gal.  she was nice though.

Wanna Go Country Dancing So I Can Impress The Girl You And I Both Are Crushing On?

THAT is not a fair question?

ken from boise!

ha i miss ken from boise. he was a crazy chino foreign exchange student at boys state. he always had a ? or 2 for the speakers at Gem Boys State ha and he always started off "hi, im Ken from Boise"(spoked in a silly asian accent ha the best!!)

Let me quote you a story:

"Let me tell you a story. A long time ago, you were a baby. You sat there, looked around, grinned (but didn’t know why), and drooled on whatever object happened to be placed in your inch-long hands. You didn’t care about possessions. You didn’t know about the worries of the world. You loved grinning and drooling. And away you drooled. something changed since then… somewhere along the way, we all learned to be really bad at just loving the present. We weren’t satisfied with drool anymore, we wanted a new MacBook. We weren’t happy with figuring out noises we could make while blowing spit bubbles, we wanted a flat screen TV." --Britton Kowalk

wise man, glad to have met him. sometimes his insights are whimsically insightful. i was meandering on ponders about this certain piece of literature and thought "hmmmm"

sometimes i still drool. . . and grin and dunno why. . .but not nearly enough. sometimes i get jealous at other peoples possessions or talents and abilities. sometimes i think "that is childish timothy dont be childish. . .in that manner. . .better in a drooly grinny manner chief!" sometimes i call myself chief when im musing. not really.

hey you, be happy with what you got. when you're hungry at 930 and you see some beans and rice in the cupboard and know about some ground beef in the fridge and see some enchillada sauce as well and quite by accident find some tomoato leftover and cheese, make a mexican casserole from scratch (mostovly scratched) and itll turn out delicious. oh dont forget to crunch up some fritos and put them in before the enchillada sauce and leave it on low heat so it all kinda makes a casseroleish deal. yum!

or maybe you'll plan on goin on a hike. but make sure you do it cuz you're itching to go hiking! and take pictures so you can look back at them in 35 years (or so) just like when your brother looks at old ones of your paps and he looks like both of you and neither at the same time

small things should make you happy. like baby drool. and umpiring tball. and lotsa rain. and awesome thunder/lightning. and road trips. and planned road trips thatll never happen. and camping that best had happen soon! and family. and sleep. and not sleeping. and having a day with no zits. or a week. or talking to a friend you haven't seen in forever! (hey angie it was good talkin!) or all of your friends preparing for their missions. or listenin to that song you love that you haven't heard forever. or tryin to find that song though you dunno if you still even have it (rats cant find it) or goin to the zoo with your old chums from before your mission (shout out to andy)(even if they dont have an albino porquipine) also quoting funny movies with your friends. or quoting dumb movies. or quoting funny memories. (smiley face) "i'd feel really stupid right now but you have chocolate all over your teeth!"

anyways thanks britton. be satisfied all. you might not have what you want but tough luck cookie, neither do i! ha i cant jump and touch the bar off the diving board at green canyon, but i can do a gainer (usually) you get the picture. peace out homies
