Tampico Mexico:

• located at 22° 15′ 19″ N, 97° 52′ 7″ W is the main city in state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. (there are 31 Mexican States! who knew!)


• Southern Tamaulipas' economy is based primarily on the petro-chemical industries.


• The central zone contains the capital, Ciudad Victoria, and is home to much foresting and farming, as well as some industrial development. About 30% of the population lives here, both in the capital and in Ciudad Mante.


• At of the 1990 census, 13 percent of the homes had only dirt floors, nearly 19 percent had no running water, and over 15 percent of the homes had no electricity


• Oil is the largest export of the port of Tampico


• The name "Tampico" is of Huastec origin: tam-piko, meaning "place of otters" (literally "water dogs"). The city is surrounded by rivers and lagoons that hosted a large population of otters in the past.


• In 1921, Mexican commercial aviation had its beginnings in Tampico. The first flight, by Mexicana de Aviación, took off from Tampico's General Francisco Javier Mina International Airport


• Tampico has a humid subtropical climate. Its weather, though reasonably pleasant in spring and autumn, is hot in the summer; the average high reaches 32 °C (90 °F) in August. . . ummm


• Tampico is located in hurricane area, but it has not been impacted directly by one in over 50 years.


• There is a village in northwestern Illinois; Ronald Reagan was born there.

The Tampico Mexico Temple was dedicated on 20 May 2000. It is the 83rd operating LDS temple. There are about 18000 members livin in Tampico

Tampico Juice is sold in over 50 countries. Citrus Punch is the original flavor. Other common flavors include Fruit Punch, Island Punch, kiwi strawberry punch, and peach punch.
